Winter Knitwear Under $200

Decent knitwear doesn’t have to cost the earth — you just need to know where to look.

As I’ve always said, when shopping at online chain stores, my trick is to filter by fabric rather than style. Retailers like H&M and Zara are usually quick to highlight wool, cashmere or cotton in a product title, making it much easier to separate the good stuff from the synthetics.

In my opinion, a wool blend will almost always outperform a fully synthetic knit, which is why every piece I’ve selected below is made from mostly wool or entirely wool. For everyday wear, I love a cotton-wool or cashmere blend, while a fine merino is hard to beat for evening. But as always, you do you.
