Tween & Teen Clothes That Appeal To You AND Them
I’ll admit, clothes shopping with my tween-aged children is a humbling experience. Usually, whether in stores or online, I approach fashion with a level of expertise that has served me well throughout my career over the past twenty-odd years. But all it takes is a “Mum, ew, gross!” from my daughter to completely shatter that confidence.
Does she actually know more than me? No — but after eleven years of dressing her, I’ve come to a place where I genuinely trust her judgment and listen to her wants and needs more than ever.
Honestly, it would be a bit strange if I were still insisting she wear floral smock dresses and abstract printed organic jumpers like she did when she was little. She may still be a child, but she’s growing — mentally and physically — at a rapid pace, and her evolving taste in clothing reflects that. Right now, both my son and daughter are gravitating toward jersey basics — mainly hoodies and track pants — so today’s edit is focused heavily on casual essentials. It takes a lot to get either of them into a knitted jumper or anything even vaguely formal, so I’ve kept pieces like that to a minimum.
If you’re also finding it tricky to keep your kids looking cool, age-appropriate, and — let’s be honest — simply well-dressed, I hope this helps!
