All You Need Is a Tank, Tee or Shirt To Wear With All These Skirts This Season
If you thought skirts were hard to match with tops and therefore avoided them at all costs, I’ve got you. The most recent Prada Spring/Summer ’27 show proved that a personality skirt can pack a serious punch, while also offering a surprising number of styling opportunities using things you likely already have in your wardrobe.
To start very simply, a plain tank, tee and shirt in white, grey or black would be the ideal starting point for most of the skirts below. I favour cotton poplin for shirts with minimal or no stretch — cotton that’s not too thick but not see-through either. The ones by Comme Si, although not cheap, look pretty perfect. I like the idea of them tucked in, slightly oversized, and worn with a belt, or even tied at the front to give a very holiday vibe. Just add kitten heel.
In terms of tanks and tees, I don’t buy into the discourse that you need to find “the perfect one”. Truthfully, most ribbed tanks I’ve tried from H&M or Zara are very good, and I don’t think you need to spend a lot more on them. T-shirts are similar, although I do favour soft cotton and a slight baby silhouette right now. Uniqlo are good, as are Cotton On and Leset. You do you in terms of budget and fit.
Perhaps it’s barrel-leg fatigue, but I’m super happy that skirts are back in all forms this season. And yes, we can all wear them. Give them a go and see.
