Minimal Pieces I’m Loving Right Now

As much as I love a good print for spring and summer, I’m a minimalist at heart. Some of my favourite labels — Matteau, Jac + Jack, Lee Matthews, Toteme, Leset (to name just a few) — are all united by their simplicity, and I always find myself reaching for these classic pieces most when the weather heats up.

While searching for the perfect pair of white shorts today (I bought three and will report back!), it got me thinking about those simple yet failsafe pieces we all rely on. The heavy-lifters that don’t appear to do much, but in reality do everything — the white tank you need to wash daily because it works with everything, the plain cotton dress that not only looks good but feels good, the perfectly slouchy barrel-leg pants. I really value pieces like these because it all comes down to fit, fabric, and feel — there’s no hiding behind a bold print or ornate shape.
