How To Wear Denim This Season

If wearing a pair of jeans is starting to feel a little boring, safe or predictable, here’s how to bring some excitement back into your outfits this season:

  • Start with an unexpected shoe. While sneakers will always have their place, it’s cool flats that are really leading the way right now—and there’s no shortage of options. Loafers, ballet pumps, mules and clogs are all having a moment, so don’t be afraid to have a bit of fun with different styles and colours.

  • Layering is what makes an outfit feel considered. Try lightweight jackets over knitwear, or fine merino and cotton tops layered under jumpers and shirts to add texture and balance. Bonus points if you’re mixing less obvious colour pairings, like cobalt blue and red.

  • Don’t shy away from cropped silhouettes on your top half. They’re surprisingly flattering and work especially well with more oversized or relaxed bottoms, particularly if you’re wearing a mid- or high-rise waistband.

  • If you’re sticking with a tried-and-true combination like denim and knitwear, let your accessories do the talking. Colourful earrings or bracelets, silk or cashmere triangle scarves, and printed handbags—think mock-croc or snakeskin — are an easy way to make the look feel more individual.

  • And finally, don’t overlook barrel-leg jeans for evening. They might not seem like an obvious match, but they pair surprisingly well with heels.

Let’s go!
